“We’ll put in place a four-tier security zone to maintain a smooth environment,” he said in a media briefing on Monday (Feb 19) about the security measures taken by police in Dhaka.
He said, “The festivity of February 21 will start from 12am. Security will be ensured in two parts at the central Shaheed Minar.”
In the first hour after 12am, the President, Prime Minister, members of the Cabinet, and foreign diplomats will pay tributes. Later, Shaheed Minar will be opened to public.
He said that the entire area from Palashi Mor to Doel Chattar and the Book Fair has been brought under CCTV coverage. Archways will be placed at each entrance of Shaheed Minar. All visitors will have to pass through the archway.
Necessary measures have been taken for traffic management, along with four layers of security in Shaheed Minar. Bomb disposal, SWAT teams, patrol teams and drones will be deployed, the DMP Commissioner said.
