Chilmari police station arrested the killer husband
Shahabuddin Mia from Chittagong for killing his wife due to dowry in Chilmari
of Kurigram.
The police informed this information in a press
release on Thursday morning. Earlier this incident happened in Ramna Union of
Upazila.
According to the police, Amena Begum (29) of Ramna
Union of Chilmari Upazila and Md Shahabuddin Mia (47) of Hatia area of Ulipur
Upazila got married on October 23. 1 lakh 50 thousand taka is taken as dowry in
marriage. After a few days of marriage, a dispute arose between the husband and
wife over the dowry money. Later on November 6 at noon, the woman's neighbors
locked the house and saw her lying inside the house through the window. At that
time, if he did not get any response after calling him many times, the people
of the area informed the police. Later the police came and broke the lock of
the house and recovered the body of the woman.
The police could not find any trace of the husband
since the incident. Later, a smart team of Chilmari police station confirmed
the location of the killer husband by collecting much information and was able
to arrest him from Satkania area of Chittagong with the cooperation of local
police. And according to his testimony, the police recovered the blanket used
in the strangulation.
Kurigram District Police Additional Superintendent
of Police (Media) Md. Ruhul Amin said that the incident is a heart-wrenching
and sensational murder in Kurigram. The Kurigram District Police has managed to
arrest the murderer's husband with the investigation of the Chilmari Thana
police's vigilant team. Our investigation is ongoing.
The killer husband gave a confessional statement when he was handed over to the Kurigram Chief Judicial Magistrate Court. Judicial Magistrate Md. Majnu Mia recorded the statement under section 164. The killer husband Shahabuddin Mia accepted the responsibility of killing his wife and said that he regrets for this incident.
