Three police men were killed and several others injured as a train hit police vehicle in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram district on Sunday noon.
The accident took place at around 12.30pm in Salimpur-Fakirhat Railcrossing area of the upazila.
The deceased identities could not be known immediately.
Chattogram Government Railway Police Station sub-inspector Faruque confirmed the information.
According to witnesses, a Chattogram-bound Sonar Bangla Express train from Dhaka hit the police vehicle when it was crossing the railway track, leaving three dead on the spot and several others injured.
"We came to know that three police men were killed after being hit by a train. We are on the way to the spot, details would be known then," SI Faruque said.
Chattogram Medical College Hospital Police outpost in-charge Nurul Alam Ashek said three injured police officials were brought to the hospital and they are undergoing treatment.
