Train services of Joypurhat with the capital and northern parts resumed after six hours of disruption following a derailment of a train in the district early Saturday.
The movement of trains became normal from 11 am, Joypurhat station master Habibur Rahman confirmed.
"Dhaka-bound Ekota Express from Joypurhat veered off the tracks at Tilakpur railway station in Akkelpur upazila around 5am, halting rail communication between the capital and northern districts," said Tofazzal Hossain, the station master.
Dhaka-bound Nilsagar Express, Panchagarh-bound Drutojan Express and Chilahati-bound Simanto Express have been stranded at Akkelpur and Santahar railway stations since the derailment.
Later, a rescue train from Ishwardi went to the spot for salvage operation, the station master added.
