Terrorists took three policemen hostage at Begumganj in Noakhali and abducted an accused under warrant.

The incident took place in front of Amila's house in Sultanpur village of ward number 8 of Alaiyarpur union of the upazila on Tuesday. Police operations are continuing to arrest those involved in the incident.

The kidnapped terrorist's name is Md. Shakeel (24). He is the son of Mohammad Ali of Amila village of Sultanpur village in the same union and is the head of the local Shakil army. He has several cases against him, including weapons, murder cases, preparation for robbery and attempted murder.

According to eyewitnesses and local sources, three policemen including Begumganj police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Abdul Motaleb and Constable Monir conducted a raid in front of Amila's house in Sultanpur village of Alayarpur Union Ward No. In the operation, the police chased the terrorist Shakeel from the road in front of his house to arrest him. At one point he jumped and fell into the canal. Later the policemen chased him and arrested him from the canal. After arresting him, he pretends to put the shirt on. Later, his family and members of the army came to give him the shirt, took the policemen hostage and forced them to remove the handcuffs from his hands at gunpoint.

It is known that at that time, SI Motaleb called the local chairman and sent Chowkidar to ask for help, he sent two people including Chowkidar Anwar to the spot. The police were forced to open the handcuffs and release the accused at the hands of the terrorists. At that time, the terrorists beat up the police along with the local chaukidar. When the terrorists tried to shoot the police source at the spot, he ran away.

When asked about this, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Begumganj Police Station, Md. Anwarul Islam denied the allegations and said that when the accused was arrested, he jumped and ran away. There was no incident of taking the police hostage; if the police were taken hostage they would have been handcuffed. This senior police officer also commented that there may be multiple cases against Shakil.
