An old man died after being hit by an opponent who dumped garbage and stagnant dirty water in Senbagh of Noakhali.
The deceased Khurshid Alam (60) is the son of the deceased Maqbul Ahmad of Baliakandi village of the upazila.
The incident took place on Tuesday (February 27) around 7:30 am in Dakshin Baliakandi village of Ward No. 9 of Bijbagh Union of the upazila.
The arrested are Md. Shahidullah (65) of Kabir Ahmed Master Bari of Dakshin Baliakandi village of Bijbagh Union of Upazila and his son Md. Aliullah alias Shimul (30) and Nesha (33) of Forkan.
According to police and local sources, the victim had an argument with Khurshid Alam and his neighbor Shahidullah over the dumping of garbage and stagnant water in the boundary of the house. At one stage, Khurshid Alam died on the spot when Shahidullah and his supporters hit Khurshid Alam on the head with a wooden stick over a dispute over the boundary of the house. On receiving the information, the police of Senbagh police station visited the spot and with the help of local people arrested 3 people suspected to be involved in the incident and brought them to the police station.
Deputy Inspector (SI) of Senbagh Police Station Sanad Barua said that the victim had injuries on his head. The police arrested 3 people from the spot and brought them to the police station. The body has been sent to the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital morgue for post-mortem. The matter of filing a case in this incident is under process.
