On the occasion of the closing ceremony of the
girls' campaign titled "Boyo:Spndhi Niye kisher Voy – Amra Korbo Joy"
a girls' rally was held in Sirajganj. On Wednesday, under the Accelerating
Action to End Child Marriage project, the girls organized the rally at the
District Social Service Complex premises where 75 girl’s participatedin the
program.
The day-long program included colorful rallies,
discussions, team presentations, stall visits, awarding of medals and sports.
It is funded by UNFPA. Care Bangladesh is supporting. The project has been
implemented at the field level by five non-governmental development
organizations namely, Mandrif, DDP, Paras, MMUS and PWD. Mass Development
Center is one of the lead NGO.
In the morning, the rally circled the main road of
the city. Later discussion meeting was held at Samajseva Complex. It was
presided over by a teenager named Tasreen Tanni. Md Tofazzal Hossain, Deputy
Director of Sirajganj District Local Government Department, spoke as the chief
guest. Deputy Director of District Social Services Directorate Md. Touhidul
Islam and others spoke as special guests.
The speakers lauded the work of the Kishori girls
and promised government support to continue the activities of Kishori Dal. The
organizations implementing the project awarded medals to the girls in
recognition of their work.
Husne Ara Jolly, executive director of PWD, gave a welcome speech on the occasion that conducted by a teenage girl named Khadijatul Kubra.
