Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) is working to bring the killers of Jamalpur journalist Golam Rabbani Nadim to book.

Commander Khandaker Al Moin, director (legal and media) of the RAB, told this to reporters at the force Kawranbazar media center in the capital on Friday.
He said that they would arrest all involved in the murder no matter their identity.

Golam Rabbani Nadim, 42, district correspondent of Bangla-news24.com and son of Abdul Karim of Gomer Char village under Nilakhia union of the upazila , was killed in an attack allegedly by the associates of a Union Parishad (UP) chairman in Bakshiganj upazila of Jamalpur district.

Victim’s wife Monira Begum said the cohorts of Sadhurpara UP Chairman Mahmudul Alam Babu waylaid Nadim at Pathatia around 10:00pm on Wednesday while he along with his fellow journalist Al Mujahid Babu was returning home from his office by a motorcycle.

The attackers dragged Nadim, also Bakshiganj upazila correspondent of Ekattor TV and vice-president of Jamalpur Online Journalists’ Association, to a nearby alley and assaulted him severely, Mujahid said, adding that he also came under attack as he tried to prevent the attackers. With the help of locals, Mujahid rescued Nadim and first took him to Bakshiganj Upazila Health Complex where doctors referred him to Jamalpur General Hospital for better treatment.

However, he was sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital following deterioration of his condition where he succumbed to his injuries around 2:45pm on Thursday.

Monira alleged that the attack was carried out on Nadim for publishing reports on irregularities and crimes committed by the UP chairman. “The chairman had been harassing my husband since the publication of the reports,” she said.

Mujahid said the attack took place hours after a court dismissed a case filed by the UP chairman against some journalists, including Nadim, under the Digital Security Act over publishing reports on irregularities and crimes committed by him.
