State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain said on Wednesday that the government has directed the officials and staff to finish works by new office hours.
"The new office hours would not hamper work. Everyone has accepted this decision of the government. It is for temporary only to save electricity," the state minister said this to media at the Secretariat on Wednesday.
He also said work would not pile up because of the reduced office hours, adding that everyone's work would be evaluated.
Today is the very first day of the new officer hours for the officers and employees. The new timing is 8am-3pm.
"Reducing office hours by an hour will help save electricity, which will be used for production," the state minister added.
