The sale of advance train tickets on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha is likely to begin from June 14.
A meeting on the advance train ticket sale for the Eid holidaymakers was held at Rail Bhaban in the capital on Wednesday (May 24) in the presence of Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujon, according to a news portal.
The tickets will be only available online -- on the Bangladesh Railway website or its app, and standing tickets will be sold at four counters. The advance tickets purchased for the Eid trip cannot be returned, it added.
Assuming that the Eid-ul-Azha could be observed on June 29 or 30, the work plan for the railway has been arranged in the meeting. An official press conference regarding the advance train tickets sale is expected to be held on May 30.
The train tickets for June 24, 25, 26, 27 and 28 will be available on June 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18 respectively.
Meanwhile, return tickets for July 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 will be available on June 22, 23, 24, 25 and 26.
The weekly holidays of all inter-city trains have been suspended from June 24.
