The fire service has fully put out the massive fire that broke out at Dhaka's New Supermarket on Saturday morning after around 27 hours.
It would hand over the building to its owners and management committee at 10am on Sunday, Md Akhtaruzzaman, assistant director of the Fire Service and Civil Defence, told the media.
Three firefighting units had worked overnight to extinguish the flames, he told reporters.
A panel would be formed to investigate the origin of the fire and determine the extent of the damage, he added.
The devastating fire damaged over 1,000 shops at New Supermarket in Dhaka early Saturday.
The fire broke out at 5:40am and firefighters brought it under control by 9:10am.
Traders and their employees frantically tried to save whatever goods they could from their stores after the fire broke out.
The New Supermarket fire came just 11 days after a huge fire burnt the Bangabazar wholesale clothing market to the ground.
