Neighbor's child raped, rapist arrested from the arbitration

A neighbor child (13) was raped by the father of two children in Sonaimuri, Noakhali. Two days after the incident, the police arrested the accused from the arbitration meeting.

The rapist Mohammad Sumon (36) is the son of Jalil of Rashidpur village of Bajra union of the upazila.

The victim's mother filed a case against women and children under the Prevention of Torture Act at Sonaimuri police station yesterday (October 16) around noon. Before this, the incident took place in Rashidpur village of Bajra Union of the upazila at around 9 am on Sunday, October 15.

It is alleged that on the day of the incident, when the victim's family went to the police station to file a case regarding child rape, the officer-in-charge (OC) of Sonaimuri police station, Md. Bakhtiar Uddin Chowdhury, sent them back without taking the case for an unknown reason. The next day, the journalists reported the matter to Noakhali Superintendent of Police (SP) Md. Shahidul Islam, and the police took up a case.

The abused child's mother complained and said that last Sunday around 9 am; I left my sick mother and daughter at home and went to the market to buy a bottle. On my way to the market, I met the rapist Suman. He asked me where I was going and forced me to rent a car. Then he went to his house and forced his wife to buy fish in the market. After entering my house, my daughter raped and ran away. Later on Tuesday morning, the police arrested him from the arbitration meeting in our house.

When asked about the complaint, Sonaimuri Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Bakhtiar Uddin Chowdhury claimed that the allegations are 100% false. When asked about the arrest of the rapist from the arbitration meeting, the OC said that the accused was arrested by the police. In this incident, a case has been taken under the Prevention of Violence against Women and Children Act on Monday. He denied arresting the rapist from the arbitration meeting. The victim is being sent to the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital for medical.
