Two killed as Fire Service car loses control on way to douse N'ganj fire

Two people, including the driver of a Fire Service car, were killed and at least seven injured after the vehicle lost control on its way to douse a fire at a garment factory in Narayanganj's Fatullah on Monday.

The accident took place in front of Shanta Market in Chashara area at around 11:30 am.

The deceased was Jahangir. He is a driver of Hajiganj Fire Service and Civil Defence. However, the identity of another, a pedestrian, could not be known immediately.

Police said a car of Hajiganj Fire Service was going to extinguish a blaze broke out at a garment factory in Fatullah area. On the way, the driver suddenly fell ill and died inside the car in front of Shanta market. Then the vehicle lost control and rammed into a bus, a private car and an auto-rickshaw. At that time, a pedestrian was crushed under the wheel of the vehicle.

The injured have been rescued and sent to nearby hospital.

Narayanganj Sadar Model Police Station officer-in-charge Anisur Rahman confirmed the matter.

However, around 11:30, 10 fire fighting units brought the fire of Fakir Apparels factory in Fatulla under control which broke out at around 10:45 am.
