The police have arrested four robbers involved in the murder of Faridpur District Zaker Party President Moshiur Rahman Jadu Mia and a third-year Honors (Botany) student from Faridpur Government Rajendra College. During the arrest, the police seized the motorcycle used in the murder, a chapati, a seven-gear knife, a range, as well as blood-stained clothes, shoes, and a belt belonging to the killer. The arrested individuals are Tanveer Ahmed Sajib Sheikh (23), Israfil Mallick (34), Sifatullah Bepari (19), and Masum Sheikh (34). Among them, Tanveer, Israfil, and Sifatullah were involved in the robbery and murder, while Masum Sheikh provided them with motorcycles.
The Superintendent of Police shared this information during a press conference at Faridpur Police Superintendent's office on Wednesday (August 2). At the time of the press conference, the deceased's father Bikash Mitra, mother Putul Mitra, and other family members were present. The Superintendent of Police revealed that the group of robbers committed several other robberies in different areas of the city on the same night after killing the victim. The arrested individuals are drug addicts and committed these crimes to support their drug use and brothels.
According to the Superintendent of Police, on July 25, at around 2 o'clock in the night, a friend named Hriday was attacked by three robbers on his way to help with his sister's delivery in Warlespara. They cut his chest with a knife, took his smartphone, and snatched two thousand taka. Later, the robbers also robbed a vegetable seller's van on Alipur Badamtali Road, Imam Mufti Abu Nasir in front of the old passport office in Jhiltuli, and Moshiur Rahman Jadu Mia at Kamalapur in the city. They also robbed a doctor named Sharif Ullah Mahmud Mia in front of East Khabaspur Andhakalyan Hospital. A smart team of police was formed to investigate these mass looting incidents.
Tanveer Ahmed Sajib Sheikh was arrested from Shyampur in Dhaka with the help of various CCTV footages of the city, and the stolen mobile set was recovered from his friend. Another accused, Israfil Molla, was arrested from Madhukhali, and Jadu Mia's stolen mobile set was recovered from him. Based on the information given by the arrested individuals, the police later recovered other stolen goods.
In the incident that occurred on Monday, July 25, around 2:30 in the morning, Jadu Mia was stabbed to death by robbers while on his way to the children's hospital in a rickshaw from his home in Worlespara. Two days later, on Wednesday, July 27, Dibagat's father, Bikash Mitra, filed a case against the unknown accused at the Kotyali police station.
