A woman was beaten to death after her duck eat rice from field in Kabirhat upazila, Noakhali.

The deceased Alia Begum is the wife of Md. Soleman of village Jagananand (BTV Bazar) of Ward No. 4 of Dhansindi Union of 50 Upazila.

The incident took place at Jaganananda village of Ward No. 4 of Dhansindi Union of Upazila around 6:30 am on Wednesday.  

Talking to the police and locals, it is said that on Wednesday morning, there was an argument with the neighbor Rezia and her family members over the ducks eating paddy. At one stage, Alia Begum was hit on the head with a stick held by Rezia Begum, and the victim was seriously injured. Later, local people rescued her and took her to 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared her dead around 8:30 am.

 Md. Salim, the son of the deceased, complained and said that Rezia Begum's duck next to our house eats our rice. When my mother spoke about this, they got into a fight with my mother. Later they hit my mother with a stick on her head and seriously injured her. Later he was rescued and taken to the hospital where he died of CNG in the local BTV Bazar area.

Kabirhat Police Station Officer in Charge (OC) Rafiqul Islam confirmed the truth of the incident and said that the police are on the spot after receiving the information. The body is in the mortuary of the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital. The accused are absconding. This incident happened due to ducks eating rice. A stick was recovered from the spot.
