Bangladesh Rangpur

The lowest temperature of the country was recorded at 8.5°C in Chuadanga on Thursday morning as a mild cold wave has been sweeping over the northern region.

The temperature has again started decreasing in the district and winter condition is worsening gradually.

There is no heat even if the sun is seen during the day. The severity of the winter has been increased by the cold winds of the north.

The bone-chilling winter coupled with dense fog has caused disruption in the regular life of the locals who were hardly seen outside their homes since morning.

Rakibul Hasan, in-charge of Chuadanga Meteorological Office, said that the temperature was recorded at 8.7°C in Chuadanga at 6am. Later at 9am, the minimum temperature was recorded at 8.5°C.

The temperature may decrease further in upcoming days, he added.

Meanwhile, the number of children and diarrhoea patients has increased in the district hospitals.

In the last 24 hours, more than a hundred patients have been admitted to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital with diarrhoea, respiratory problems and various cold-related diseases.

Weather may remain dry with temporary partly cloudy sky over the country, according to the weather bulletin of the met office.

Moderate to thick fog may occur at places over the country during late night to morning.

Mild cold wave is sweeping over the districts of Rajshahi, Pabna, Naogaon, Nilphamari and Chuadanga and it may continue, it added.
