Police have recovered the body of a man named Md. Hanif (57) from a room in a residential 'Hotel Saudia' in the Anderson Road area of the Cox's Bazar police outpost.
His body was recovered from room number 19 on the third floor of the hotel at around 12 noon on Monday (August 17).
Police said that the deceased Md. Hanif is the son of Sikandar Kazi from Mirpur, Dhaka.
The hotel authorities said that Hanif last left the room for dinner around 11 pm on Sunday. The next day, Monday, around 12 noon, the hotel's cleaning staff went to the room as part of their regular work and found him lying motionless. The hotel manager immediately informed the police. On receiving the information, a special team of Sadar Police reached the spot and recovered the body.
Cox's Bazar Sadar Model Police Station OC Sheikh Mohammad Ali said that the body has been sent to the Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. The real cause of death will be known after receiving the final autopsy report.
Police said that legal action is being taken to file a case of unnatural death in addition to examining the hotel's entry register and CCTV footage in this incident.
