Eight people were killed and twenty others injured in a triangular collision among a bus, private car and a motorcycle at Milton bazar area on Dhaka-Khulna highway in Kashiani upazila of Gopalganj on Saturday.
Identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Confirming the matter to Jago News, Kashiani Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mehedi Hasan, said a Khulna-bound bus of Rajib Paribahan collided head-on with a private car and a motorcycle, leaving seven people dead on the spot around 11am. Later, another person died on the way to the hospital.
He also said, local people threshing paddy beside the road where the accident occurred. One or two of them may have been among the dead.
On information, members of the fire service rushed to the spot and started the rescue operation. The number of the deceased might be increased, he added.
