Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has shot two Bangladeshi nationals to death along Lohakuchi border at Aditmari upazila in Lalmonirhat district.
The incident took place near pillar no 921/22 early on Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Waskuruni, 32, son of Sanwar Hossain, and Aynal Haque, 30, son of Sadek Ali, residents of Mohishtuli village in the upazila. They were cowherds.
Locals said some Bangladeshi cowherds were crossing the border along with cows with the help of several Indian cattle traders. At that time, a patrol team of the BSF opened fire at them, leaving Waskuruni and Aynal dead on the spot.
Later, the other cowherds brought the bodies home.
Aditmari Police Station officer in-charge Moktarul Islam said he sent a team from the police station to the deceased's home in this regard for investigation.
Lalmonirhat BGB-15 official Lt Col SM Towhidul Alam said, "We received the information. Our officials are collecting detail over the incident."
