College teacher Khairun Nahar might have committed suicide coming immense psychological pressure after her marriage with a student went viral on Facebook, said police.

Khairun's body was recovered by police from her rented house at Bolaripara area in Natore town on Sunday morning. Police took her husband college student Mamun Hossain to custody.

Khairun used to live in her house with her only son after being divorced with her first husband. She got acquainted with Mamun on June 24, 2021 on Messenger of Facebook. Six months into their acquaintance, they got wedlocked on December 12 last year at a Quazi office in Natore town.

However, the matter became known in July--six months after the wedding. The news about their wedding was published in different newspapers, while a video interview was broadcast. As a result, the matter turned into a 'Talk of the country."

Following the recovery of Khairun's body, journalists wanted to know about his reaction from Natore police super Liton Kumar Saha on Sunday afternoon. In reply, he said, "When the love affair of teacher and student got viral, both of them took the matter positively; but, they were serious mental pressure due to various obstacles at social and family levels, as well as at workplaces."

"Their wedding came under widespread criticism on social media. We are looking for the possibility whether she had committed suicide due to mental pressure. We have visited the place of occurence," he said.

The 42-year old Khairun Nahar was an assistant professor at M Huque Degre College at Khubjipur under Gurudaspur upazila, while 22-year old Mamun hails from village Patpara in Dharabarisha union under the upazila. He is a B.A. 2nd year student at Natore NS Govt College.

There are also allegations that Mamun had long been putting pressure on Khairun for money. He also beat Khairun at different times.

Besides, he kept the deed of Khairun's house in his possession. The law enfircing agencies are investigating the matter.
