Kurigram Correspondent:
In Raiganj, Nageshwari, Kurigram two
sons, Hafizul Islam Habu and Hamidul Islam have raised a claim for taking a
mortgage of 6.5 bigha of 2.8 lakh taka after their father's death. They filed a
case in court alleging that their father was killed for money.
Calling these allegations false and
baseless the victim family Mujibur Rahman and Azizar Rahman held a press
conference.
In a press conference at the Nageshwari
Press Club office at 12 o'clock on Thursday, the victim Mujibur Rahman
complained that Abdul Quddus used to cultivate their 6 and a half bigha land
with barga during his lifetime. After threshing the paddy every season, he
would hand over the rice to them. Abdul Quddus' two sons lived in Delhi, India.
Mujibur Rahman claimed that Abdul Qudds fell ill
in his own grocery store in Raiganj Bazar on July 27. Later, when Nageshwari
was taken to the Upazila Health Complex, the doctor declared him dead. It was
learned that day that he had died of cardiac arrest. He was later buried. Three
weeks after his father's death, his two sons Hafizul Islam Habu and Hamidul
Islam came from Delhi, India. A few days after their arrival, their father
claimed that the land was taken as a pledge of 28 lakh 50 thousand taka. They
complained to the Raiganj Union Parishad Chairman about the matter. Later, when
the arbitral meeting was held, the matter remained unresolved as no proof of
taking the pledge could be given. Later, Mujibur Rahman filed another case in
the court on charges of harassment and land grabbing. Meanwhile, 95 days after
his death, his son Hafizul Islam Habu filed a case in court claiming that his
father was killed. On November 13, Hamidul Islam also made a human chain in the
Habura area.
