BNP's march in Rajshahi: Police on strict position

Police did not allow Rajshahi BNP to bring out their pre-scheduled march. Fearing of deteriorating law and order situation before the city elections, Metropolitan Police (RMP) took the decision.

From Tuesday morning, the law enforcement agencies are on strict position at all important points of city including the party office.

They are restricted the movement of vehicles and people on various streets.

Tense situation is prevailing in the city centreing BNP's march.


Rajshahi Metropolitan BNP convenor Adv Ershad Ali Isha said,"Police did not permit us to bring out pre-scheduled march from Bhubonmohan Park to Zeropoint due to BNP convenor Abu Sayeed Chand's incident."

Additional police commissioner Bijay Kumar Bosak said preparations to avert any untoward situation have been taken.

At a rally on May 19 on Shibchar High School playground in Rajshahi's Puthia upazila, district BNP convenor Abu Sayeed Chand said there will be no 27 points or 10 points. The only demand is to send Sheikh Hasina to the grave.

"We will do everything needed to force Sheikh Hasina to resign, InshaAllah".

The video containing his speech went viral on social media.

A case was, later, filed against him under the Anti-Terrorism Act for threatening to kill Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
