Not even an inch of our arable
land can be left vacant. We have to use natural fertilizers for eco-friendly
agricultural production, that environment and soil friendly pesticides should
be usedBagerhat Deputy Commissioner Md. Khalid Hossain commented. On the
morning of November 18, he spoke as the chief guest at the Bagerhat Acilah
Auditorium at the "Environmentally Friendly Agriculture Youth Initiative
Workshop" under the Action for Transformation Project in collaboration
with BadhonManab UnnayanSangstha and Action Aid Bangladesh. Executive Director
of Badhon Manab UnnayanSangstha ASM Monzurul Hasan Milon presided over the
workshop among others Agriculture Extension Directorate Kamarbari Bagerhat
Agricultural Engineer Luna Rani Mallik, Bagerhat Sadar Upazila Agriculture
Officer Tanmoy Dutta, Youth Development Officer Sheikh Md. Azgar Ali, Sadar
Upazila Women Vice Chairman Rizia Parvin, Shatagombuz Union Parishad Chairman
Sheikh Aktaruzzaman Bachchu, Karapara Union Parishad Chairman Sheikh Mahitur
Rahman Paltanwere present in the workshop besides journalists, civil society
representatives, more than 150 youth representatives of various unions of
Bagerhat Sadar Upazila participated in it.At the end of the workshop, a check
of 3 lakh tk. was distributed to 20 youth groups to encourage them to produce
environmentally friendly agriculture.
