The United States (US) Embassy in Dhaka has filed a case against five alleged human traffickers.
An officer of the embassy lodged the case against Mafizur Rahman, 54, Ashraful Alam Bhuyian, 33, Mohammad Jaman, Vasani and Nur Alam with Gulshan Police Station on Monday.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the police station Mazharul Islam confirmed it to the Daily Sun.
The investigation into the case has already been transferred to Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit, he added.
According to the case statement, Mafiz and Ashraf came to the embassy for visa interviews on 11 February.
During the interview, they admitted that they are involved in trafficking human to different countries.
They work mainly as the middlemen; they submitted fake documents for going to the US.
Mafiz with the help of other human traffickers trafficked fortune seekers to Dubai and the US.
On Ashraf with the help of an immigration officer at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) is alleged to have trafficked fortune seekers to the US through Paraguay.
The rest three alleged accused are also involved in the crimes, according to the case statement.
