2 killed as truck crashes into auto-rickshaw in M'singh

Two people were killed and three were injured after an auto-rickshaw being hit by a truck on the Mymensingh-Netrakona road of Mymensingh's Gouripur upazila on Wednesday night.

The deceased were  CNG run auto-rickshaw driver Humayun Kabir, 20, residents of Beltoli Dakkhinpara area, and Rubel Mia, 32, son of Abdul Sattar of Beltoli Maddhyapara area of the upazila.

The accident occurred at around 11:30 pm in Charpara Madrasa area when a sand-laden truck hit the Shyamganj-bound auto-rickshaw, leaving one dead on the spot and four  others injured, said Gouripur Police Station officer-in-charge Mahmudul Islam.

The injured were admitted to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital where Rubel was declared dead.

It was learnt that hearing a news of fire at Shyamganj Maddhyabazar, the five including the CNG driver Humayun were heading towards the spot. But they met the accident on the way.

Police seized the truck and recovered the bodies. The truck driver managed to flee the scene.
