University administration will be responsible if I commit suicide. Sajjad Hossain, a 4th year student of Fisheries and Marine Bioscience (FMB) Department of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University of Gopalganj held a press conference requesting my classmates and university administration.

On Tuesday afternoon, the student held a press conference in Sheikh Russell Hall premises of the university, demanding death threats and safety. The news was gathered by Sajjad Hossain's classmates and journalists from various media were present.

In a written statement, the student said that on the night of November 6, 10 to 12 young men led by Roni Mridha went to room 303 of Sheikh Russell Hall and beat me up. Later, when he returned from the hospital with treatment, the administration assured him of fair trial. Later, when the inquiry committee was formed, it was asked to submit the inquiry report by November 12. But again on November 11, Roni and his men threatened me not to tell the truth to the inquiry committee.

The student also said that I sat on hunger strike that day for the safety of my life. But once again, when the university administration assured justice, the hunger strike was broken and I returned. But even after 7 working days have not got fair trial and now I’m mentally broken.

Incidentally, on November 5, a friendly football match was held between the Department of Fisheries and Marine Bioscience and the Department of Pharmacy. At that time, there was an argument between the players of the two divisions and at one point a fight took place. Based on this incident, that night Roni Mridha, a fourth year student of Pharmacy Department went to Sheikh Russell Hall with 10-12 associates and took out Md Sajjad Hossain and Md Zahid Hossain, students of Fisheries and Marine Bioscience Department, from the room and beat them up.

The student also said in the press conference, "Now I am living with a mental condition including paralysis." If I commit suicide, the responsibility is entirely on the university authority. I am not able to sleep properly for the past 11 days. I am always depressed and afraid. Because those who beat me up are walking around the campus with their chests inflated. I feel like I won't get a fair trial. Any time will kill me. I will not get justice. If I ever commit suicide, my request to the university administration is to send my body home to my parents.

In this regard, University Registrar Md. Dalilur Rahman said, "We do not know that Md. Sajjad Hossain, a fourth-year student of the University's Department of Fisheries and Marine Bioscience (FMB), held a press conference and threatened to commit suicide."

He also said, an investigation committee has been formed on the matter of Md. Sajjad Hossain. The investigation committee is working. It takes a while to sort everything out. They will submit the report to the university authority within two-one days.
