External pressure isn't a cause for concern as sanctions and visa policies have already been negotiated behind the scenes, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said today (3 October).
"The election will be held on time. Sheikh Hasina, being the daughter of Bangabandhu, has adeptly struck a balance with everyone," said Quader during his address at a rally in Aminbazar, located on the outskirts of the capital, on Tuesday.
"Two selfies with Joe Biden – one in Delhi and the other in New York – have proved to be the winning move. Sanctions, visa policies – everything has been negotiated behind the scenes."
The ruling Awami League organised the "peace and development" rally to protest "BNP-Jamaat's terrorism, militancy, anarchy, and anti-state conspiracies."
Around a thousand supporters of the Awami League, representing its district and upazila units, along with affiliated organisations, joined the rally which began at 3pm Tuesday (3 October).
Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader addressed the rally as the chief guest.
Additionally, Awami League presidium members Advocate Kamrul Islam, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, and Organising Secretary Mirza Azam spoke at the rally as guests.
A large contingent of law enforcement personnel has been deployed at the rally venue to ensure security and maintain order.
