Amid great enthusiasm, voting
was held non-stop from 11 am to 3 pm at Zilla Adarsh High School at Sonar Mor
Baligram in the city on Sunday.
Votes were taken through ballot
in the election of 7 posts including vice chairman and general secretary.
A total of 14 candidates are
contesting the polls in 2 panels against 7 posts. The two panels are Vice
Chairman Candidate Abdul Hakim and (General Secretary) Syed Hasan Mahmud Santu
Panel. And brave freedom fighters Mojibur Rahman and Mithun panel.
Ex-officio, Zilla Parishad
Chairman Bir Muktijoddha M Ruhul Amin has been nominated as the Chairman of the
Committee.
A total of 1600 voters will
exercise their right to vote in the election.
Salamat Hossain is serving as
the Election Commissioner.
The Annual General Meeting of
the District Red Crescent Society was held at the same place. It was presided
over by the president of the organization, veteran freedom fighter Mo Ruhul
Amin.
Ashiq Ahmed Farooq, general secretary of the previous committee, Abdul Hakim, member Abu Sufian and others were also present.
