The recent floods and landslides have struck panic among the residents of several upazilas of the Moulvibazar district.
The worsening flood situation due to the constant heavy rain, and rising water levels of Kushiyara River and Hakaluki Haor has inundated the Barlekha municipal area and 200 villages in 10 unions.
As many as 160,000 people in those areas have been affected by the flood, said Executive Magistrate Arnab Malakar at a media call in the District Administration Office on Saturday.
Besides, a landslide in Ayeshabagh tea garden of Dakshin Shahbazpur union left a man dead on Saturday.
Another landslide reported from the Kechrigul village of Moulvibazar Sadar Union injured another man on the same day. He is currently being treated at a local hospital.

The electrical substation of the district is also submerged in floodwaters, said Magistrate Arnab Malakar.
On the other hand, several villages, including Mohishmara, Babnia, Hashimpur, Bhataiya, and Purshai were inundated after the Fanai River embankment collapsed at Karmadha union, leaving over 50,000 people in these areas marooned.
Locals reported electricity and all kinds of the transportation system in these villages are cut off due to the worsening flood condition.
Meanwhile, in Juri upazila, about 16,000 people from 28 villages are currently trapped in floodwater water.
Most of the roads in these villages have been submerged, and so far about 24 families have been moved to the shelters.
On top of that, as many as 7,500 people from six unions of Moulvibazar Sadar upazila, 10,000 people from four unions of Rajnagar upazila, and 4,000 people from five unions of Sreemangal upazila have been affected by the ongoing flood.
