Traffic movement low on major Dhaka roads
City

Less number of traffics comparing to a normal day were plying on roads at the first hour of the first day of three-day blockade programme called by BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami.

Commuters were seen waiting on both sides of major roads in the capital for vehicles to reach their destination on Tuesday morning.

A few number of city buses were seen on the roads amid the presence of law enforcement agencies.

Due to security concern, only those people who have urgency to travel came out on roads.

Rakibul Islam, a commuter who was waiting for bus at Nadda bus stand around 7:30am said, “I have to go to the Kurmitola General Hospital as my relative is admitted there. But I am not getting any bus in the last 10 minutes. A few numbers of buses, that are mostly Sadarghat to Abdullahpur bound, are plying on the road. I need to get on a Mirpur bound bus.”

He also said, “A kind of fear is prevailing among the people due to violent activities like torching buses for the last few days, that is why less number of people come out on roads.”
