president Salim Ahmed submitted nomination papers to Sunamganj Deputy
Commissioner, Didar-E-Alam Mohammad Maqsud Chowdhury as an independent
candidate in the 12th National Assembly elections.
Salim Ahmed is one of the members of the current district A. League, former
president of the district labor league and the founder of Sunamganj Foundation.
In Sunamganj-1 Constituency, three-time elected MP engineer Moazzem Hossain
Ratan, among the heavyweight half-dozen candidates, the boat candidate Adv.
Ranjit Chandra Sarkar was nominated.
Salim Ahmed said I congratulate him who has been nominated for the party boat.
But on October 27, after the announcement of the name of the boat's party
candidate, the honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina invited us for tea. All
those hoping for the nomination of “Nouka” met at the public building of the
honorable Prime Minister. At this time, the Honorable Prime Minister told us
that no matter who the party nomination is given to, there is no difficulty in
electing those who are popular in their areas as independent candidates. Salim
further said, I have submitted my nomination papers today as an independent
candidate to the Deputy Commissioner after being convinced by the words of the
honorable Prime Minister and after discussing with the general voters of my
constituency. I am always ready to accept any decision as per further
instructions of the Hon'ble Prime Minister.
Parliamentary Constituency No. 1 of Sunamganj District is a neglected haor
surrounded township. Nevertheless, there is a potential zone rich in natural
resources. There are natural resources like sand, stone, coal, and limestone.
There is a large reservoir of water in Tangua. Along with fish, stone, rice,
Bangladesh has the only diversified tourism resources. If I am elected, I will
ensure the employment of every person through breakthrough steps in the
potential and development of my Sunamganj-1 parliamentary constituency,
Inshallah. I believe that any neglected township can be transformed into a
resource through long range planning. One day Sunamganj-1 parliamentary seat
will play a strong role as a strong zone of Bangladesh economy. He requested
everyone's cooperation and prayers.
