Jatiya Party chief patron and leader of opposition Raushan Ershad met prime minister and Awami League president Sheikh Hasina at the latter’s official residence Ganabhaban.

Emerging from the meeting, Raushan Ershad told reporters that Jatiya Party had intentionally dropped her from the party nomination for Bangladesh's next general elections.

Former general secretary of the party, Moshiur Rahan Ranga, told reporters that party chairman Ghulam Muhamad Quder had deprived Raushan Ershad and her followers of party nominations for upcoming general elections scheduled on January 7.

Ranga hinted that they would not continue in the Jatiya Party under leadership of GM Quader.

Ranga requested Awami League not to form any alliance with Jatiya Party led by GM Quader.

He also said that the issue of confrontation in the party could be resolved through discussion.

Raushan Ershad earlier declared that she would not participate in the next general election.
