and Climate Change Minister Md. Shahab Uddin has said that as part of
addressing the challenges of climate change, a list is being prepared
calculating the potential losses of Bangladesh due to climate change. Our
main objective is to engage various stakeholders through public-private
partnerships and international support in the upcoming COP-28 conference.
This will result in a multi-sectoral and pragmatic approach that will provide
solutions to the challenges of climate change in Bangladesh.
The
environment minister said this in the speech of the chief guest at the
discussion meeting titled 'The Road to Dubai: Expert Consultation on Thematic
Programs of COP-28' at Hotel Pan Pacific Sonargaon on Wednesday.
The
environment minister said that the thematic issues of COP-28 namely climate,
adaptation, finance, food security, agriculture, water, natural resources,
energy, industrialization, urbanization, health, women and youth, education,
skill development, business, transport, multidimensional responsibility
and Bangladesh's preparedness needs to be precisely identified by
discussing relevant issues regarding capacity building etc. As a result,
it will play an effective role in protecting the interests of Bangladesh in the
upcoming COP-28 global negotiations.
At COP28
operationalization of the Loss and Damage Fund in the most vulnerable
developing countries and fix its 'Detailed Arrangement'; frame the 'Global
Goals on Adaptation'. Also, 100 billion per year by developed countries until
2025 to address climate change in developing countries. Ensuring US
dollar delivery Adaptation funding must be doubled.
In the meeting chaired by Dr. Qazi Kholiiquzzaman Ahmad, Resident Representative of UNDP Stefan Liler, Professor Emeritus, C3ER Dr. Ainun Nishat and Muqeed Majumdar Babu, Chairman of Prokriti o Jibon Foundation delivered speeches. Executive Director of Nature Conservation Management Dr. S. M. Munjurul Hannan Khan presented the keynote paper.
