In Kurigram, Konkan, the entire township is covered in cold and thick fog. Normal life has been disrupted. The workers and the people who are working hard are the most affected by the severe cold. They are unable to go to work on time due to the cold in Konkan. The fog is falling like rain drops. Students going to schools, colleges and coaching centers in the morning have suffered a lot due to this cold.The lowest temperature in the district was recorded at 12.2 degrees Celsius at 9 am on Monday (January 15). The people of more than 400 chars and island chars along the banks of 16 rivers flowing over the district have been the most affected by the cold. They are warming themselves by burning straw to beat the cold winter in Konkan. Also many farmers are working in the fields despite the cold weather in Konkan. Meanwhile, cold related diseases are increasing with the winter - shortness of breath, diarrhoea, pneumonia and cold cough. In the last one week, 405 people have been treated at Kurigram General Hospital due to diarrhea. Most of them are children. At present 64 children are admitted against 12 sections of the hospital's diarrhea ward. The severity of winter has increased as the sky is cloudy all day and the sunlight cannot spread. The sun has not been seen for the last 6 days. In this situation, day and night temperatures are close, so cold is felt throughout the day. Tajul Islam, a rickshaw driver in Kurigram town, said that it has been very cold for the past few days. People are not leaving home. There are very few people in the city, there are no rickshaw passengers. We are also in danger due to winter. Kashem Ali, a businessman of Ardash Municipal Market, said that the number of people in the market has decreased due to the increase in cold since 7-8 days. Our sales are also down. People don't go out of the house unless absolutely necessary. Subal Chandra Sarkar, officer-in-charge of Kurigram's Rajarhat Agricultural Meteorological Office, said the temperature will remain like this for a few more days. Temperatures are unlikely to rise until it rains. However, another cold wave may sweep over the district this month.
