Road communication disrupted due to a landslide caused by the overnight incessant rain in Lalkhan Bazar-Tiger Pass road area of Chattogram city on Friday.
Locals said a chunk of mud from the hill collapsed on the top of a microbus, pinning the vehicle against the road, around 7:30 am on Friday and brought the traffic on one side of the road to a standstill.
The driver of the vehicle, which was heading to Chattogram’s Bahaddarhat from Agrabad, was the only person in the microbus when the incident happened.
Two units of fire fighters from nearby station rushed to the spot and were trying to remove mounds of the hill from the road.
The Met Office in Patenga recorded 33 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours to 9 am on Friday. Low pressure and active monsoon winds have been triggering the rains, Met office said.
