The High Court on Wednesday granted bail to Mamunul Haque, the former joint secretary general of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh, in five separate cases filed with Paltan and Chattogram's Hathazari Police Stations.
An HC bench of Justice Mostafa Jaman Islam and Justice Aminul Islam passed the bail order.
According to Adv Helal Uddin Mollahat, at least 17 people were killed during violence in Chattogram's Hathazari and Brahmanbari following clashes in Dhaka's Baitul Mokarram. A rule was issued with the High Court over Mamunul's bail in five cases--four at Paltan and one at Hathazari.
The HC today granted the bail after hearing on the rule.
But Mamunul Haque was accused in some other case. For this, he will not be permitted to free from jail right now.
