Dispose of graft case against DIG Mizan, others in 6 months: HC

The High Court (HC) on Monday ordered the trial court concerned to dispose of within six months a graft case filed against four persons including suspended deputy inspector general (DIG) of police Mizanur Rahman.

A High Court division bench comprising Justice SM Kuddus Zaman and Justice KM Zahid Sarwar passed the order after holding hearing a bail plea filed by the disgraced senior cop.

Barrister Mahbub Shafique moved the bail plea for Mizanur, while senior advocate Khurshid Alam Khan stood for the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), BSS reports.

Manjur Morshed, director of the ACC, filed the case on June 24, 2019, against DIG Mizan, his wife Sohelia Anar Ratna, nephew sub-inspector Mahmudul Hasan and younger brother Mahbubur Rahman.

According to the case documents, Mizan with the assistance of the other accused amassed wealth of Taka 32.8 million, while he concealed information about wealth of Taka 37 million in his wealth statement.
