BNP standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and media cell convener Jahir Uddin Swapan have been sent to jail after their six-day remand was over in police constable Amirul Islam Pervez murder case.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rashidul Alam passed an order directing police to send them to jail on Thursday.
Earlier, police produced both Khasru and Swapan before the court after their remand was over and pleaded to keep them in jail until the investigation into the case against them was over.
DB inspector Tariqul Islam made the plea to the court. After hearing the plea, the court directed to send them to jail.
The 32-year-old constable Amirul Islam Pervez was killed during BNP's grand rally at Box Culvert Road in Fakirapool under Naya Paltan Police Station in Dhaka on October 28.
Paltan Police Station sub-inspector Mashuk Mia on October 29 filed a case against 164 people, making BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam as the prime accused.
Several top BNP leaders were arrested or held in the last few days, as the party looks to intensify its movement to oust the government from power.
