Demanding resignation of the Awami League government, pro-BNP lawyers staged demonstration on Tuesday defying police bar.
They brought out a protest procession in front of Dhaka Bar Association at 12noon. But police obstructed them when it reached the main road of the court.
At one stage of protest, lawyers took position on the road. Police charged baton on them and remove them from the road.
Later, the BNP-backed lawyers sit-in at the entrance gate of the CMM court.
BNP claimed that they brought out a peaceful procession. But charged baton on them and obstructed them. Many of them were injured in the police attack.
"BNP lawyers have been asked to go back from road after they took position there. They also brought out procession. Some four to five police members were injured in their attack," said Kotwali Police Station OC Shahinur.
