At least four people were killed and another 10 were injured in a collision between a bus and a sand-laden truck on the Dhaka-Tangail highway on Saturday.
The names of the deceased could not be known immediately. All of them were men.
The accident also momentarily brought traffic movement on the lane towards Dhaka to a standstill.
Mirzapur police later moved the bus with a wrecker and restored the movement of vehicles on the road.
Gorai highway police station OC Molla Tutul said the bus had rammed into the parked truck from behind, leaving three people on the bus dead on the spot.
The injured had been taken to an area hospital, where another person had succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment, the police officer added.
