Four persons, including a child, were killed and two injured in a road accident on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Ashuganj upazila of Brahmanbaria district on Monday noon.
The accident took place at around 12.30pm in Sohagpur Bus Stand area of the upazila.
Of the deceased, two were identified as Md Sohel Miah, 27, son of Farid Miah, and Md Jilani, 8, son of Nazmul Miah, both residents of Baroibari village under Sarail upazila while the details of others could not be known immediately.
Quoting locals, Khantihata Highway Police Station officer-in-charge Akul Chandra Bishwas said the accident occurred when a speeding Dhaka-bound bus rammed into a stationary CNG-run autorickshaw as its driver lost control over the steering of the vehicle, leaving three dead on the spot amd three other passengers critically injured.
The injured were taken to Barhmanbaria Sadar Hospital but one of them succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital, he said.
Legal procedures are under process in this regard, the OC added.
