Dengue has claimed 15 more lives during the last 24 hours, raising the death toll to 1,370.

During the period, hospitals around the country admitted 1,728 new patients. Of the new cases, 379 were hospitalised in Dhaka city, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in a regular update on Thursday (November 2).

This year, the health authorities have reported 2,74,806 dengue positive cases but 2,67,166 of them have recovered, the DGHS said.

Meanwhile, 6,270 dengue patients are undergoing treatment at different hospitals at the moment. Of them, 1,762 are in Dhaka, while 4,508 are outside the capital city.

The health authorities recorded 71,976 dengue cases in August, including 342 deaths. In September, the DGHS reported 79,598 cases, including 396 deaths, the highest in a single month.

According to DGHS, Bangladesh reported 101,354 dengue cases in 2019. In 2020, it confirmed 1,405 cases, while the number rose to 28,429 in 2021. Last year, Bangladesh saw 62,382 dengue cases.

Bangladesh recorded 179 dengue-related deaths in 2019; seven in 2020; 105 in 2021; and 281 last year.
