Health Minister Zahid Maleque has asked all to be cautious as daily Covid cases in the country are on the rise.
“The way we are moving carelessly, it would not take long time to see a surge in the number of Covid patients in hospitals,” said the minister while addressing at a programme held at International Centre for Diarrheal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b) in city’s Mohakhali area on Tuesday afternoon.
Zahid Maleque said, “We brought the Covid infection under control, but now the virus is on the rise again in the country. In the last one month, the infection rate in the country was 0.6 per cent, now it has risen to 2 percent.”
Every day 30 to 35 patients were diagnosed with Covid daily but now it stands at 150 to 160, said the Health Minister adding, “We fear that if Covid tests increase at this time, the number of the infections would increase.”
He said it is a matter of hope that there are not more than 20 patients in all the hospitals now.
Besides, the minister expresses his concern and said, “But the way we are moving carelessly, it would not take long time to increase the number of patients in the hospital. So we need to be more careful about health rules.”
Zahid Maleque requested all to follow the health rules.
