Shahjahan Bhuiyan, an independent candidate of Narayanganj-1 constituency, is constantly violating the code of conduct in the polling field. The Ketli Prateik candidate is accused of distributing cash, campaigning by blocking highways and throwing bhuribhos. This time Gazi Golam Mortuza Pappa, an independent candidate for the seat's Eagle Pratik, has filed a written complaint against his violation of the code of conduct in the office of the Chief Election Commissioner, the President of the Election Inquiry Committee and the District Returning Officer. He filed this complaint last Friday.
It has been reported that the current minister Golam Dastgir Gazi is the candidate of Awami League's party symbol boat in Narayanganj-1 constituency, which consists of Rupganj upazila, and his dummy candidate is Gazi Golam Maturja Pappa. Upazila Awami League general secretary Shahjahan Bhuiyan has become an independent candidate for this seat. It has been alleged that Shah Jahan has become an independent candidate against the boat under the auspices of a land-raiding faction. Even though Shahjahan did not show any cash in his election affidavit, he went to the polling ground to play money games with the help of the land robbers - this is the allegation of boat candidates and local Awami League leaders.
Already, Daudpur Union Chairman Nurul Islam Jahangir's Kettle campaign has publicly distributed cash on Shahjahan's behalf. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media. News about it was also published in leading media of the country. Apart from the violation of electoral code of conduct by spreading money on the polling ground, the question of the source of this money has also come to the fore. Meanwhile, Shahjahan Bhuiyan seems to be in a Damcare mood after violating one election code of conduct. Bhuri Bhoj in violation of code of conduct has also been mentioned in the complaint. Apart from this, Shah Jahan has also been accused of blocking the highway and mass communication.
According to the source of the complaint, on the afternoon of December 27, independent MP candidate Shahjahan Bhuiyan and the workers appointed by his electoral party held a procession and road meeting on the main road of Murapara in Atlashpur area of the upazila, causing disruption to the movement of people.
According to the complaint, controversial persons including Shahjahan Bhuiyan's supporter Musharraf are going to showdown in election road meetings and public relations with firearms. Earlier on the morning of December 21, in the 5th ward of Daudpur Union, an independent candidate, Shahjahan Bhuiyan, held a road meeting without the permission of Nurul Islam Jahangi, Chairman of Daudpur Union, and at that time distributed cash in the form of bribes to various supporters present in the road meeting. Shahjahan Bhuiyan called the voters to vote for the 'kettle' symbol in Ichapura Bazar area of Rupganj Union at noon on December 28 and organized a public meeting and breakfast. Which is published in the leading media of the country. It is also mentioned in the complaint that Shahjahan has been giving speeches impersonating his personal character and lying during his election campaign.
Meanwhile, District Returning Officer Mahmudul Haque's mobile phone was called several times to inquire about the receipt of the complaint, but he did not receive it. However, a reliable source in the district administration said that the district returning officer has received the complaint. The source also said that action will be taken subject to investigation.
