Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) deputy director Sanjib Kumar Sing has been arrested for raping a woman and torturing her keeping her confined at a flat in the city's Dhanmondi area.
Dhanmondi Police Station OC Parvez Islam said following a case filed by the victim under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act on Friday (August 25), the BTRC official was arrested the same day.
Some intimate videos and pictures of them were found in his mobile phone.
Sanjib Kumar was produced in a court on Saturday seeking remand. But the court permitted to interrogate him at jail gate.
According to the case statement, the woman acquainted with Sanjib in 2013. Sanjib then kept secret his identity and developed a relationship with the woman. But when the victim came to know his identity, she was reluctant to continue the relation. But Sanjib assured her to marry.
In 2014, Sanjib tactfully took the woman at a flat in Dhanmondi and raped her there and also recording the video. After that, he has been violated the woman for six to seven years threatening to spread the videos in social media.
He also cheat with her sending the videos to the family members of the woman.
The woman alleged that Sanjib called her in August 15 at that Dhanmondi flat and raped her again threatening to kill her. He also tortured her confining her.
One of Sanjib's friend rescued the woman and took her home.
