The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued traffic restrictions in Suhrawardy Udyan and its surrounding areas for the grand rally of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL).
DMP's media and public relations department issued the directives on Thursday night.
It said the order regarding traffic will remain in force from 10am on Friday till the end of the rally.
According to the directive, roads that will be closed are --- Kantaban crossing, Hotel Intercontinental crossing, Kakrail Mosque crossing, Kakrail Church crossing, UBL Crossing, High Court crossing, Doyel Chattar crossing, Dhaka University Medical Center road, Jagannath Hall crossing, Bhashkarjo crossing, Vice-Chancellor's resident crossing.
DMP, however, urged the city residents to avoid the areas or roads mentioned and use alternative routes.
It also directed that vehicle coming to the rally can be parked at Mohsin Hall playground, University of Dhaka (VIP); Mall Chattar, University of Dhaka, on both sides of the road from Palashi crossing to Bhashkarjo crossing; on both sides of Fuller road; on both sides of the road from Doyel Chattar crossing to Shahidullah Hall crossing; on both sides of Nawab Abdul Ghani road and Dilkusha and on both sides of the road in Motijheel area.
BCL, the students wing of the ruling Awami League will hold the student rally at the Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital at 3pm. Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will attend the rally as chief guest and will address the programme.
BCL is holding the rally in memory of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib.
