A group of miscreants attacked two journalists and vandalized a press car.Eyewitnesses said, several persons aged between 20 and 25 years and some underaged, who were drunken and came from a bar, attacked Rasel Ahmed,
staff reporter of Daily Deshkal, a Bengali newspaper, and Dewan Asif Reza, copy editor of The Asian Age while they were leaving the office at around 10:30pm on Wednesday. They culprits also vandalized a press car of The Asian Age parked inside of the office building. Hearing screams of the victims, security guards and other people came to the spot. They caught three attackers while others fled the scene. Later, the miscreants were handed over to police.
As of writing the report, preparations were being taken to file a case with Tejgaon Police Station in this connection.It is mentionable that such evil acts were carried out on The Asian Age earlier. In such a situation, The Asian Age authorities have drawn attention of the authorities concerned to ensure the security of journalists and a safe environment for freedom of press.
