Japan Garden City has been fined Tk 5 lakh after detection of Aedes mosquito larvae during a drive by the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC).
DNCC mayor Atiqul Islam made a surprise visit to the Japan Garden City on Saturday (July 8) morning. During the visit, he examined the basements of several high-rise buildings there. The mayor also found innumerable amount of Aedes mosquito larvae floating on the stagnant water in the basements of several buildings. Then the building authorities were fined Tk 5 lakh. DNCC Public Relations Officer Makbul Hosayn confirmed it.
He said the DNCC mayor himself was present with the mobile court during the anti-mosquito drives. He monitored the drive for destruction of Aedes mosquito larvae being present there. As part of the drive, Japan Garden City at Mohammadpur in the capital was fined Tk 5 lakh.
Joining the anti-mosquito drive, the mayor said none knows where I shall go from earlier. "I don't beleive anybody else. I will go wherever I like to go. You journalists join with me."
