A newly-married couple died from electrocution at Keraniganj upazila in Dhaka district early on Thursday.
The incident took place Aritbazar Sumon Housing area at about 12:10 am.
The deceased were Ismail, 20, and his wife Kajol Akter, 18.
Md Ali, father of the deceased Ismail, said his son came in contact with a live electric wire while trying to take a key, stuck in an electric wire, with an iron pipe. At that time his (Ismail) wife also got electrocuted while trying to save her husband.
Both were rescued and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared them dead.
He said they got married just one and a half months ago.
The bodies have been kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy, said the hospital police camp in-charge Bachchu Miah.
