BNP leader Khokon’s house attacked in Narsingdi

A group of Chhatra Dal men who were deprived of posts allegedly attacked the house of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) joint secretary general and also the Narsingdi district unit convener Khairul Kabir Khokon in Chinishpur area of the city on Thursday. 

According to sources, a five-member committee of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, the student wing of BNP, has been formed on Thursday night, announcing Siddikur Rahman Nahid as the president and Mehedi Hasan as the general secretary of the committee.

But a group of Chhatra Dal activists, comprising of 20 to 25, 'deprived of posts' in its newly formed committee, carrying lethal weapons marched towards the Khokon’s house chanting slogan.

They broke the main entrance of the house and destroyed banners, vandalized furniture around 9pm on Thursday. They also set furniture on fire breaking down the window and left the place.  

Caretaker of the house Kajol said he was inside the house in that time and heard some people entered the residence chanting slogan and the vandalized the furniture. 

After hearing the news, BNP district unit member secretary Monjur Elahi visited the spot and said actions will be taken against the accused after analyzing the CCTV footage of the house.

Narsingdi Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Kashem Bhuiyan confirmed the news and said they are investigating the incident.
